Aztec codices really exist
They’re are a beautiful and important way of understanding how the Aztec people lived.
Some of them were created before European people came to Mexico and some were written afterwards by priests who wrote down the stories of Nahuatl people. They were usually brightly coloured.

Malinche was a real person!
Lots of what we know about Malinche comes from stories, but she was a very important person for Mexican history. We know she worked with Hernan Cortez, although she probably didn’t mean for him to take control of Mexico and give it to the King of Spain.
We also know she had a baby with Cortes, but didn’t get married to him.
